Everyone talks about baby photos.
Then it’s all about senior portraits.
But there’s this whole stage in between that kind of gets ignored… and honestly, it shouldn’t.
Let’s talk about tween portraits.
Tween portraits are for kids roughly 11 to 16 years old. They’re not little kids anymore… but they’re also not full-on seniors yet.
They’re in that magical stage where:
They’re figuring out who they are
Their personalities are changing fast
One day they’re confident and cool
The next day they’re like, “Please don’t look at me”
And guess what? That’s exactly why this stage matters.
So many families skip portraits during these years because life gets busy. Sports, school, growth spurts, braces, moods… all of it.
But here’s the thing:
Your tween will never be this version of themselves again.
This is the stage where personalities really start showing up. Interests change. Confidence grows (and sometimes disappears for a bit). These years are a huge milestone — even if they don’t come with a cap and gown.
And one day, you’ll be really glad you captured it.
We offer tween portrait sessions in the studio or on location, depending on what fits your tween best.
Studio sessions are great for clean, timeless portraits
Outdoor sessions are perfect if they’re more relaxed, playful, or love being outside
Some tweens walk in ready to shine.
Some need a minute.
Some warm up halfway through.
Some surprise everyone.
All of that is normal — and totally okay.
Some tweens want to show off who they are:
Big smiles
Confident poses
Full personality on display
Others are more like:
“Can I just stand here and not do anything?”
We’ve got both covered.
We gently guide the session, keep things relaxed, and never force anything. Sometimes the best photos come from the in-between moments — the laughs, the eye rolls, the “okay fine” smiles.
Tween portraits shouldn’t be stressful or break the bank.
That’s why we offer packages that fit all budgets, whether you want:
A few favorite images
Wall art for your home
Albums for grandparents
Or a little bit of everything
You choose what works for your family.
Tween years can feel awkward, emotional, funny, confusing, and amazing — sometimes all in the same day.
That’s exactly why they deserve to be documented.
Because one day, you’ll look back and think:
“Wow… that was such a cool stage.”
And you’ll have the portraits to prove it.
If you’ve been on the fence about tween portraits — consider this your sign. 😊
